The philosophy behind our play-based, child centered curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. Learning isn’t just repeating what someone else says; it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and to learn first hand about the world we live in.
In their early years, children explore the world around them by using all their senses (touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and looking). At Teddy Bear Club, children are encouraged to be children. The individual growth, development and progress of each child is important to us. The environment at the center promotes learning, while having fun during the process. Young children need to have lots of time to play and explore their environment. Through a balance of child-directed and teacher-directed activities, we strive to enrich a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Play provides the foundation for academic or “school” learning. Play enables us to achieve the key goals of our early childhood curriculum. PLAY IS THE WORK OF YOUNG CHILDREN.
TBC is dedicated to providing a safe, warm and loving environment for children. With our smaller size, we are able to give quality, individualized care to families at affordable prices. As we view our center as a family, the importance of family bonds cannot be understated: siblings are encouraged to interact with one another, and we want everyone involved - children, parents and staff alike - to feel like they are part of our extended family. Quality early childhood programs value and actively promote a partnership with children’s families. Parent comments and suggestions are encouraged and are seriously considered as we continually adapt to new challenges. The children are not the only ones who are engaged in the learning experience - all of our staff and parents also learn from the children. Parents are encouraged to visit often and participate in their child’s early childhood experience.
We provide a wide range of age appropriate learning opportunities for children to develop and grow cognitively, socially and emotionally, while also learning the physical skills necessary for day-to-day life. At TBC, we strive to provide this type of environment and give children every opportunity to learn individually, grow healthy bodies and form meaningful relationships. From the design of the classrooms to the professional, well-trained staff, education and love are all part of each child’s day at TBC.
