"Play is often talked about as if it were relief from serious learning.  But for children, play is serious learning.  Play is really the work of childhood".

-Fred Rogers

The philosophy behind our playspace is that young children learn best by doing. Learning isn’t just repeating what someone else says; it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and to learn first hand about the world we live in.

In their early years, children explore the world around them by using ALL their senses (touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and looking). At Teddy Bear Club, children are encouraged to be children. The individual growth, development and progress of each child is important to us. Our nurturing environment promotes learning, while having fun during the process. Young children need to have lots of time to play and explore their environment. Through a balance of structured and unstructured activities, we strive to enrich a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Play provides the foundation for academic or “school” learning. Play enables us to achieve the key goals of our early childhood programming. PLAY IS THE WORK OF YOUNG CHILDREN!

TBC is dedicated to providing a safe, warm and nurturing environment for children and their grownups. As we view our center as a family, the importance of family and community bonds cannot be understated: we want everyone involved - children, parents/caregivers and staff alike - to feel like they are part of our extended family. Quality early childhood programs value and actively promote a partnership with children’s families. Parent comments and suggestions are encouraged and are seriously considered as we continually adapt our programming. The children are not the only ones who are engaged in the learning experience - grownups also learn from the children. CHILDREN LEARN BEST WHEN GROWNUPS IN THEIR LIVES WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ONE ANOTHER!

We provide a wide range of age appropriate activities and events for children to develop and grow cognitively, socially and emotionally, while also learning the physical skills necessary for day-to-day life. At TBC, we strive to provide this type of environment and give children every opportunity to learn individually and continue to form meaningful relationships with their peers and grownups. From the design of the playspace to the professional, well-trained staff, education and love are all part of each day at TBC.
